Dani Ceballos says Arsenal song impacted January transfer decision

Dani Ceballos has revealed the role the Arsenal fans had in him choosing to stay at the club in the January transfer window.

In January, reports claimed the Real Madrid midfielder's loan was to be cut short after a stint on the sidelines through injury.

Ceballos picked up a hamstring problem in the Europa League in November and missed more than a month of action.

The 23-year-old then struggled to get back into the Gunners starting XI under new boss Mikel Arteta, finding game time limited under the Spaniard.

As a result the midfielder, who only arrived at the Emirates in the summer, was linked with an early departure.

And it seems there was a hint of truth in the reports as Ceballos has since come out and revealed he actually chose to stay in North London

"I like to have stability at a club and I decided to stay because Arsenal took a chance on me and I want to return that trust," he told MARCA. "It sounds silly but the Arsenal fans have a song about me, only three or four players have one and they've been there years. I feel really loved."

Ceballos missed Freddie Ljungberg's entire caretaker reign through injury and has now had to adjust to life under a new boss in Arteta.

"Mikel is going to be a great coach," the midfielder added, giving his verdict. "He's learnt from Pep. Since I came back I've been working with him for around two weeks and now I have to show I should be playing for Arsenal. I'll be important after the break."
