Arsenal's new midfield signing Dani Ceballos has cited Unai Emery as the key reason why he turned down other offers to move to the Premier League.
Tottenham Hotspur were heavily-linked to the Spaniard and were understood to have spoken to the Spaniard about a move prior to the Under-21 European Championship tournament in Italy this summer.
However, a phone call with the head coach of the Gunners ensured that the 22-year-old only had eyes for a switch to the Emirates Stadium on-loan for the season from Real.
"I knew I had the confidence of the coach, which was very important for me from the start," he told the club's official website .
"I was aware of the responsibility that wearing this shirt entails and it was a tremendously proud moment when I decided to join Arsenal.
"The coach was the turning point in terms of me joining this massive club. He’s a Spanish coach and he knows me from my time at other clubs."
He added: "He’s a very tactical coach and I think that’s going to really help me to perfect my positioning. I think we’re both going to try our best to make me a better player."
According to AS , Ceballos sees Emery as an important part of his plan to break into the senior Spain squad ahead of the 2020 European Championship next summer.
