Dani Ceballos makes statement on Martin Odegaard's Real Madrid future amid Arsenal links

Arsenal's on-loan midfielder Dani Ceballos has stated that "young players need to play regularly" after Martin Odegaard reportedly requested to leave Real Madrid.

According to numerous reports in Spain, the 22-year-old has asked to leave the club on loan in order to gain more first-team minutes.

The Norway international excelled on loan at Real Sociedad last season, but has struggled for playing time under Zinedine Zidane this season.

The Gunners are among the teams linked with a move for Odegaard, and seem to have a decent relationship built with the Spanish champions after sealing loan moves in consecutive seasons for Ceballos.

Whether that comes to fruition or not, Ceballos has been speaking about the young Norway midfielder's chances at the Santiago Bernabeu, and hinted that he could need an exit to continue his development.

"Young players need to play regularly," Ceballos told EFE.

"At Real Madrid, I needed to know that I will have equal opportunities. I was obsessed with playing again.

"I wasn't getting minutes, but I realised it was best to work and reverse the situation and be important.

"If I do this, I'll play again. It couldn't have been any clearer.

"I can tell you what happened to me at Madrid. I don't know exactly what will happen with Martin Odegaard, but it is obvious that any player who wants to succeed at Madrid is going to grab the opportunity he has."
