Dani Ceballos hails Mikel Arteta after finding his 'unusual' Arsenal role

Dani Ceballos has hailed Mikel Arteta for helping him to adapt his game to fill an "unusual" role at Arsenal.

The Spanish international has been a key figure under Arteta, and has featured heavily in the side since the restart.

Arsenal's switch to a 3-4-3 has brought about a notable improvement, witb Ceballos at the heart of the midfield with Granix Xhaka.

And while there is still uncertainty over Ceballos' future at the club, he is clearly happy working with his current boss.

Ceballos told Sky Sports : "He [Arteta] is using me in a position which is unusual for me, as a pivot in front of the defence next to Granit (Xhaka), so I think it's good that he is helping.

"Someone who is looking at the pitch from the outside can see all 22 players and give better advice about the best positions to be in.

"The truth is that I worked so hard out there. I trained to my limits and now I have a very high physical level.

"That, combined with the part of my game that the míster likes, which is having the ball and being a protagonist, means I'm now a player who fits into his team."

Ceballos' loan deal is due to finish at the end of this season, with his future beyond that still up in the air.

Real Madrid are keen to offload the 23-year-old to raise transfer funds, as a number of clubs line up to sign him.

Arsenal are believed to be interested in retaining Ceballos' services, and the player feels he has proven his credentials in recent weeks.

"Since we came back from Dubai, I have played practically every minute with him. That's been thanks to him, but also thanks to what I have done and what I have demonstrated on the pitch.

"I told him, 'Look, I want to show that I can play here.' I think I have done that."
