Dani Ceballos drops Instagram hint over Mikel Arteta's Arsenal team selection vs Leeds United

Dani Ceballos could be in line for a recall to the Arsenal XI against Leeds United.

The Gunners have enjoyed a rare week off following their 1-0 loss at the hands of Aston Villa and will be looking to avoid a third successive Premier League defeat - having also lost to Wolves earlier in the month.

Mikel Arteta's side go into the clash with Leeds in the bottom half of the table and six points off a Europa League spot.

As things stand, Arsenal's only chance of playing European football next season will be to win the competition in a dream scenario that would also finally mean a return to the Champions League after a long four-year absence.

But Arteta has revealed that he has no plans to prioritise the Europa League just yet.

"The priority is Leeds and then we go back to Europe," the Spaniard said in his pre-match press conference. "It’s a competition that we know can give us access to what we want.

"There is still a long way to go. It's still a very strange year as well with the locations where we are going to play those games. And let’s go step by step."

Victory over Leeds will be a good first step and Arteta has a couple of big decisions to make in terms of team selection.

Ceballos who has not started a game since the goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace, is one of several Arsenal players who could be in line to replace the injured Thomas Partey at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta does have the option of recalling Mohamed Elneny in midfield or tweaking his system to get both Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe in the same team.

Whilst it remains to be seen as to what the Spaniard does, it looks like Ceballos, as expected, will at least the Arsenal matchday squad if his social media activity is anything to go by.

Taking to Instagram, the on-loan midfielder has done his best to hype up the big game at the Emirates Stadium.

Interestingly, this is a ploy that the likes of Partey, Willian, Nicolas Pepe, and Gabriel Magalhaes have used whenever they've been included in an Arsenal matchday squad this season.

Ceballos did start the reverse fixture against Leeds earlier in the campaign and that might provide an insight into Arteta's plans on Sunday.

The 24-year-old is still awaiting his first goal of the season and his first Premier League goal for the Gunners.
