Dani Alves has admitted his regret in not joining Manchester City when he had the chance.
Following Pep Guardiola's underwhelming first season at City, the manager went on a mission to significantly improve his full-back options in the 2017 summer transfer market.
Naturally, Guardiola targeted his former stalwart Alves, who was out of contract and available on a free transfer after a year at Juventus.
The Brazilian played 208 times for Guardiola at Barcelona between 2008-2012, winning every trophy there is to win in the process - including two Champions Leagues.
However, instead of reuniting with his former manager, Alves instead opted to move to Paris Saint-Germain where he played for two seasons before returning to Brazil.
Now seeing out his career at Sao Paulo, Alves has revealed he regrets not making the move to Manchester to reunite with his old boss.
"I regret not going to Manchester City [in 2017] to work with [Pep] Guardiola again," the 38-year-old told SporTV. "I regret it, but not for PSG. For not working with him. When you are with people like him [Guardiola], who always finds a way out, it adds a lot to you. My regret was not having gone to work with him again."
Instead of Alves, Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo arrived that summer for a combined cost of £126.18million and the Blues went on to win the league with a record 100 points.
