Dani Alves finds new club after Man City transfer links

Dani Alves has returned to Brazil to play for his 'beloved' Sao Paulo.

City have been after a new right-back all summer as Pep Guardiola looks to improve his full-back options after already re-signing Angelino on the left side of defence.

A move for Juventus' Joao Cancelo was highly touted but appeared to stall over the asking price and as City's current second choice right-back, Danilo, was unable to find himself a new club after a proposed move to Inter collapsed.

Naturally, Blues were then linked with Alves, who would have been a much cheaper option as he was a free agent after being released by Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

A move seemed to make sense, as Alves played under Guardiola and enjoyed great success with him at Barcelona and the City boss tried to sign him in 2017, before the Brazilian opted for Paris at the last minute.

Plenty of clubs were said to be in for Alves, who even at 36 proved he still had lots to give by captaining Brazil to Copa America glory this summer and being named the player of the tournament.

Alves has decided to return to his homeland for to sign for Sao Paulo, the club he supports.

He has signed a contract until 2022 and explained his decsion by saying: "Now, in 2019 I could have picked anywhere to play but I chose to return to Brazil. For my country. For my people. For the club of my heart.”
