Cars parked dangerously in Snowdonia hotspots have been towed away in a bid to prevent the blight of anti-social motorists clogging up busy A roads
Unprecedented numbers of day-trippers, visitors and walkers have flocked to Snowdonia over the last year following a staycation boom prompted by Covid 19 holiday restrictions.
However dangerous parking has become a major problem in the region over the last few years especially in Bethesda, Beddgelert and Pen-y-Pass and now local authorities are clamping down on selfish motorists to prevent accidents and potential hazards.
Following recent spates of cars dangerously dumped in hotspots a crackdown began this week involving North Wales Police, Gwynedd Council and Snowdonia National Park Authority.
The campaign message is if you park recklessly park in Snowdonia you run the risk of your vehicle being towed away followed by a hefty fine.
Gwynedd Cllr Gareth Griffiths called for motorists to use common sense when stopping at the most frequented Snowdonia beauty spots.
He said: "We're not asking much. There have been instances of dangerous parking and we are reacting to it."
