'Dangerously out of control' dog destroyed after mauling woman and two children in Oldham

A 'dangerously out of control' dog has been destroyed after mauling a woman and two children.

Police were called to Lower Lime Road in Oldham on Saturday morning, to reports of a woman being bitten by a dog. 

When officers arrived they discovered the dog had also bitten two children and was out of control.

One child is understood to have been bitten on the head by the large animal.

The dog was destroyed at the scene due to concerns for people at the property and the wider public.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. 

The two children were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

GMP said in a statement: "Police were called at around 11.55am on Saturday 6 July 2019 to reports that a woman had been bitten by a dog at a house on Lower Lime Road in Oldham.

"Officers attended and discovered the dog was dangerously out of control and two children had also been bitten.

"The woman has been taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The two children have also been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"In line with officers’ priority to keep the public safe, the dog was destroyed at the scene due to concerns for the people at the property and the wider public."
