Dangerous scenes for Dublin drivers as tree causes road block and fallen cables during Storm Jorge

The force of Storm Jorge is currently being felt all over Dublin with people being urged to avoid driving if at all possible after a series of fallen trees in north Dublin.

One downed tree has partially blocked the Porterstown Road at Luttrellstown Castle between Castleknock and Clonsilla.

Dublin Fire Brigade has warned that a stop-go system is in operation with cables damaged in the area.

Gardai have advised people to follow current weather warnings and safety advice.

Nearby, there has also been reports of trees down at Tower Road blocking the busy path between Castleknock and Chapelizod.

Met Eireann has currently eight weather warnings in place throughout the whole country.

A Status Red Wind warning is in place for Galway and Clare from 1pm until 4pm today while three status orange wind warnings are in place elsewhere.

A Status Orange wind warning is in place for Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry from 6am Saturday until 3am Sunday.

Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo's warning is in place from 12pm Saturday until 3am Sunday while warnings for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford will be in place from 1pm until 7pm.

There is also four status yellow weather warnings in place around the rest of the country including snow/ice and rainfall warnings.
