'Dangerous' scaffolding on Liverpool street is an 'accident waiting to happen'

Concerns have been raised about "dangerous" scaffolding on a Liverpool street which one man fears is "an accident waiting to happen."

Photos of the scaffolding on Patterdale Road, in Wavertree, show a metal pole protruding into the street from the front of a terrace house.

One man, who has a family member that lives in the area, said he feared a child could be "seriously injured" by the pole which is at "the height of a child's head."

He said: "Do we have to wait for a child's eye to be taken out or a child's head to be split open or damage to an adults arm or chest before this is sorted?

"This is a disgrace!"

The ECHO understands no application had been made to the Liverpool City Council Highways Inspector and no permit had been issued for the scaffolding.

A council spokesperson told the ECHO: "A Highways Inspector is to attend this afternoon and barriers will be installed to protect the public until we can identify the owner."

The council said the responsibility for scaffolding falls with the scaffolding contractor to erect safely and securely.
