'Dangerous' prisoner on the run after escaping from hospital guards

A "dangerous" prisoner has fled from guards at a hospital and gone on the run and police urge the public not to approach him.

A manhunt is underway for 30-year-old Robert Parton who slipped away from prison officers watching him before threatening staff at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham and making good his escape.

He was last seen getting into a car heading towards Bordesley Green at around 11.20pm on Monday.

Parton is a convicted robber described as dangerous by West Midlands Police. He was receiving treatment at the hospital when he escaped.

Officers have release pictures of Robert Parton as they urge people to get in touch with sightings of him.

The 30-year-old was last seen at around 11.20pm last night.

Detective Sergeant Tom Lyons, said: “We are urging the public to report sightings of Parton to us immediately.

“I would appeal directly to Parton to hand himself in directly and urge the public to not approach him as he is considered dangerous but to call 999 straight away with any information or sightings."

Parton is described as white, 6ft 3ins tall, large build, and bald.

He also has links across Birmingham. Anyone with information is urged to call 999.
