‘Dangerous predator’ who raped woman in Southwark jailed - and may have more victims, police fear

A man who raped a woman in southeast London has been jailed following a Met investigation.

Petroy Martin, 23, of Doddington Grove, was sentenced to five years and six months in prison at Inner London Crown Court on April 14.

Martin was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order after he assaulted a woman last May.

Despite Martin’s conviction, Met Police detectives believe he may have carried out further assaults and have appealed for any other victims to come forward.

“Martin is clearly a dangerous predator whose actions have had a life-changing impact on the victim.

“As the judge stated at court, Martin showed no remorse for his ‘vile and bestial’ behaviour and we are pleased he has been taken off the streets of London,” detective constable Jamie Smith, who led the investigation, said.

“We also know that there could be other victims of Martin and would encourage anyone who wants to speak to us to come forward.

“No piece of information is too small and you will be listened to and supported.”

The victim came forward to report a man that had raped her on May 22, 2022, following a night out.

Officers identified Martin via social media and arrested him on June 14.
