'Dangerous play' - Pundit's verdict on controversial moment in Nottingham Forest win

Nottingham Forest’s second goal against Sheffield Wednesday should have been ruled out for “dangerous play”, according to one pundit.

After Yuri Ribeiro had given the Reds an early lead at the City Ground on Tuesday night, Lewis Grabban returned from injury to make sure of the points.

The striker came off the bench and emerged from a challenge with the Owls’ Tom Lees to clinch a 2-0 victory, ending a seven-match winless run.

Wednesday boss Tony Pulis argued post-match that Grabban’s goal should not have stood, and Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton has backed him up.

"It is dangerous play," he said, speaking as a pundit on the EFL’s Quest show. "I don't think for one second that he has gone to hurt the lad at all.

"It's an attempt to get the ball, but it is dangerous play."

Appleton also had his say on the bizarre moment when visiting defender Moses Odubajo seemed to congratulate Grabban on his strike.

Odubajo took to social media afterwards to clarify the situation, insisting he was laughing because he expected the goal to be disallowed for a foul against Grabban.

And Appleton said: "I can't believe for one second that he has gone and high-fived a member of the other team after scoring a goal.

"He surely thought the goal was going to be cancelled."
