Dangerous masked motorbikers tracked around city by police

A number of dangerous masked motorbikers were tracked around the city this afternoon.

Police responded to a multiple reports of riders wearing balaclavas and riding anti-socially around Liverpool .

According to Merseyside Police , the first call was received at 2pm to Bridge Road in Crosby .

It is believed that members of the public witnessed a number of people, all dressed in black with their faces covered, riding motorbikes in a dangerous manner.

With the help of the National Police Air Service, officers managed to stop and arrest one man on Dunes Way and seize one bike.

The next report then stated that the motorbikes were seen heading towards the city centre.

People all over the city said that they saw police heading in the same direction, with some stopping close to St John's shopping centre, close to Lime Street.

A picture taken inside the complex showed multiple officers carrying out enquiries inside the centre.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: " Officers are currently dealing with reports of a number of people riding motorbikes anti-socially in the Liverpool area.

"We were initially called at 2pm (26th June) to Bridge Road, Crosby after members of the public reported seeing a number of people, all dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, riding motorcycles in a dangerous manner in the area.

"With the assistance of NPAS, officers attended where one man was detained on Dunes Way and one bike seized.

"The remaining riders are reported to have travelled towards the city centre where the incident remains ongoing."

The ECHO understands that at least two motorbike riders are currently unaccounted for.
