'Dangerous' lorry's driver caught with unusual load along main road

A lorry driver was driving with a van "hanging out the back of it" before being pulled over by cops.

The man was driving along a road in Knowsley on February 27 when he was spotted by police.

Shocking images show two of the van's front wheels dangling dangerously over the edge of the truck's container.

Traffic cops examined the vehicle and served the driver from St Helens , a prohibition notice after noticing a number of dangerous defects.

Merseyside Police's unit at Knowsley posted the incident on social media in a bid to warn other users about road safety.

Writing on Facebook, they said: "Question - Would you feel happy travelling behind this?

"Officers patrolling the area around Knowsley Lane have served an immediate prohibition notice to the driver of this vehicle following a stop check yesterday (Feb 27).

"The vehicle was examined at the roadside and served an immediate prohibition due to a number of dangerous defects including having a van hanging out the back of a container whilst being transported.

"A male from the St Helens area will now be reported for a number of offences relating to the incident. Road safety matters!"
