Dangerous Drongan driver who plowed into a wall is disqualified

A man fled the scene of an accident after driving on the wrong side of the carriageway, crashing into a wall, a telegraph pole and road sign.

But Derran Taylor’s days of motoring are at an end after he was disqualified at Ayr Sheriff Court on Wednesday, June 19. Taylor, 20, of Coyle Avenue, Drongan, admitted five charges libelled against him.

He pled guilty to taking and driving away a car without consent from a property on Coyle Avenue on August 8 last year.

Taylor also admitted driving on Ayr Road, Cumnock, without a full licence and without a qualified driver, driving dangerously, driving at excessive speed, driving on the opposite carriageway before colliding with a wall, telegraph and road sign.

Taylor also failed to stop after an accident, failed to report it and left a vehicle unattended.

Taylor committed the offences while on bail.

Sentence was deferred until Wednesday, July 17 in order to obtain a criminal justice social work report.

Taylor’s defence solicitor Tony Currie told Sheriff John Montgomery: “He understands he will be disqualified in the interim.”
