'Dangerous driving' Dublin chase sees Gardai running on foot to arrest fleeing youngster

One teen has been arrested by Gardai after an incident of dangerous driving which saw officers running on foot to nab a youngster fleeing the scene in south Dublin last night.

Gardai rushed to the Cushlawn area on Sunday night after reports of dangerous driving in the area.

As many as five garda cars were reportedly in pursuit of the car which sped erratically from Rathcoole Road, past Saggart and heading in the direction of Jobstown Road.

Upon arrival, officers spotted an 18-year-old who fled the scene leading to a garda chase on foot.

The teen was subsequently arrested after the sprint with Gardai and was brought to Tallaght Station where he was quizzed.

He has since been charged in relation to the incident and will appear at Tallaght District Court.

An eye-witness told Dublin Live: "The chase went up past my house. There was one car and about five garda cars behind it.

"The car was followed from Rathcoole Road and came up past Saggart before heading towards Jobstown Road.

"The sound of the blue sirens going off was deafening."

A spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí attended Cushlawn area yesterday evening, Sunday 3 January in relation to dangerous driving incident.

"Gardaí arrested one youth (18 years) who fled the scene and he was arrested after a foot chase.
