A dangerous driver had a cloud of smoke coming from a wheel during a police chase where his car hit speeds of 60mph and 70mph, a court heard.
The pursuit began when police saw a blue Ford Focus Zetec which had no valid MOT on July 1 last year.
Uninsured driver Jamie Clipston, 20, of Rowan Drive, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, slowed down and turned onto Carsic Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Police activated blue lights on their car. Clipston pulled over to the kerb, then to the middle of the road and accelerated sharply.
The car turned onto Carsic Road, then sped up to 50mph and turned left onto Stoneyford Road and made a sharp turn.
Clipston's car went through a red light, sped up to 60mph in a 30mph limit, before going through another red light and onto Kings Mills Road East.
By now he was travelling at more than 70mph. The court heard how smoke was coming from the nearside wheel on the car.
He drove past hospital cars and pedestrians in the grounds of a hospital, then went onto Mansfield Road at 50mph where the speed limit was 40mph.
The court also heard the car went off-road before going back onto the road.
He stopped the car in Hamilton Road. The prosecution said he drove with no insurance, no licence and the tyre threads on the car were so insufficient officers saw smoke coming from the car.
The car travelled well in excess of the speed limit and went through multiple red lights.
Details about the case were heard after Clipston pleaded guilty to driving dangerously on July 1; driving without a licence, having no insurance and two charges in relation to the condition of two tyres.
The court was told Clipston, who had no previous convictions, had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
The district judge took the view his powers were insufficient to sentence him at the magistrates' court and sent the case to Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on February 24.
Bail was granted and an interim driving disqualification imposed. He was ordered not to sit in the front seat of any motor vehicle and keep all appointments with probation.
