Dangerous creep follows woman in Dublin park asking her simple but sinister question in 'attempted mugging'

A woman was left very spooked and shaken after a recent walk in a popular Dublin park where she was followed by a man who then approached her and tried to talk to her as part of an "attempted mugging".

The dangerous creep walked closely behind the lady for several minutes in Tymon Park before eventually getting close enough that he was able to shout questions at her.

The victim said that this was the second similar incident in recent weeks that she has had while walking in the huge and family-friendly park.

She said: "I was followed by someone from behind in Tymon Park and he even changed his pace to match my own."

But when the thug caught up to the woman, he asked her a question which she believes was the next stage in his attempt to mug the lady.

She continued: "I was asked the time in what appeared to be an attempted mugging.

"But I said that I didn't know and ran away as quick as I could."

She added: "I believe he was hoping I'd look at my watch or phone long enough so he could make a decision on whether it was worth taking or not."

She warned others to keep an eye out for the man but it seems that these attacks have been a constant in the park in recent months.

Another person added: "I was there during lockdown. A very unkempt man asked me the time and came into my personal space before saying something very crude after that. I reported him."

In June, locals were warned to be on alert after a six-year-old girl was the subject of a terrifying abduction attempt here also.

Gardai launched an investigation into the horrifying incident when the girl - who was playing in a playground close to St Jude's GAA club - was approached by a man.

It's understood the man slapped the little girl before attempting to cover her mouth and drag her into nearby bushes.

The man only let her go after hearing her mother calling out for her and he then quickly left the scene.
