Dangerous armed thief on loose after threatening staff with knife and stealing money from shop in Meath

A garda hunt is currently underway for a dangerous thief who held shop staff at knife-point before stealing money in Meath.

The ruthless thug entered a Maxol filling station on Flowerhill Road by himself at around 10:45pm on Wednesday threatening numerous staff members with a knife.

The man - who is described as being dressed in dark clothing and small in size - stole a small sum of cash from the store.

The thief managed to flee the area on foot but no direction of travel is known.

A garda spokesman said: "If there was anybody in the area at the time and saw the suspect or can help in any way please call Gardai on 046-9021445.
