A yellow alert comes into force in the region at 6pm on Sunday, January 30 as a fierce Arctic blast sweeps across the UK.
Liverpool has enjoyed an unseasonably mild January but typically wintry conditions will arrive at the end of the month.

Stag party fears over bid to open Hooters venue in Liverpool

Concerns have been raised at plans to open a Hooters bar in Liverpool.
City Centre councillors have revealed that an application has been sent in that could see the American sports bar chain open up in the city centre.
The chain is well known in America for offering beer and bar food, often served by scantily-clad waitresses.
Rumours of a Hooters bar coming to Liverpool first emerged in 2015, when a website called hootersliverpool appeared - but no plans emerged at the time.

Five men were arrested after a scuffle with police officers on Mathew Street.
The incident took place on Tuesday, January 25 and was captured on camera by a passer-by.
