Dancing With The Stars winner Mairead Ronan sets sights on new radio show

Dancing With The Stars winner Mairead Ronan said she has her sights set on bagging a new radio show this summer.

The mum-of-three added that while the RTE programme was intense work at the time, she feels lucky to work in an industry where she doesn’t have to work everyday.

Speaking about possible new work ventures, the recently crowned DWTS champion told the Irish Daily Mirror: “I’ve had a chat about radio and so I am just trying to see if that would work around the summer.

“And it would be great if it could, but that is definitely not confirmed.

“But Dancing With The Stars is extreme and I don’t think anyone would want that as a full time job. But I love working.

“I absolutely adore my kids but I love working, you get a kick out of working whatever it is, whether it is radio or telly.

“But because of the job I’m in, working in media, I don’t have to be gone all day every day.

Dancing With The Stars finalist Cliona Hagan tells how she shed weight on RTE show

“You can do bursts of work very easily and that’s what I hope to do now with Dancing With The Stars over.

“I hope I can just do, being very, very busy sometimes and not so busy other times. That’s working for me right now, so if I could do that, it would be great.”

The presenter, 39, added that she would love to be back on Ireland’s Fittest Families this year after missing last year’s season, which was presented by Kathryn Thomas, while on maternity leave.

She said: “It’s not confirmed... but I’d like to be back.”

Dancing With The Stars faces axe as RTE budget issues put future in jeopardy

Meanwhile, commenting on rumours that Dancing With The Stars may not be recommissioned for a fourth season, the reigning champion said she can’t see the hit show not returning to RTE.

She said: “I can’t imagine that happening.

“People were tuning in their droves. Everyone from five-year-olds to 95-year-olds were watching it and it is one of those few shows on the telly where all the family can sit and watch it together.

“I can’t see that.”
