Sean Spicer, Donald Trump’s former communications director, is going to be on Dancing With The Stars.

Spicer, whose tenure in the White House lasted from January to July 2017, is one of 12 people making up the show’s 2019 cast, revealed on Wednesday by ABC.

He caused controversy with his very first public appearance, angrily peddling the line that the crowds at Trump's inauguration had been bigger than those at Obama's, despite photographs and public transport ticket data showing that this was not true.

His aggressive performances at the podium inspired an impersonation by Melissa McCarthy on Saturday Night Live which sources suggested had played a part in turning the president against him. He also caused controversy by suggesting that Hitler had not used chemical weapons.

The former White House aide isn’t the first to land a reality show gig after being part of the Trump administration.

Anthony Scaramucci, who stepped in for a short time after Spicer’s resignation, was briefly a participant on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year.

Actor James Van Der Beek, Queer Eye star Karamo Brown, and NBA champion Lamar Odom are also among the new Dancing With The Stars cast.

The Bachelorette‘s Hannah Brown, country singer Lauren Alaina, supermodel Christie Brinkley, singer Ally Brooke, The Office‘s Kate Flannery, NFL star Ray Lewis, comedian Kel Mitchell, and The Supremes’ Mary Wilson round out the cast.

This is Dancing With The Stars‘ 28th season.

It will premiere on 16 September on ABC.
