Dancing With The Stars cast announced with Selma Blair and Arnie's son named

Dancing With The Stars has announced its new batch of celebrities to take on the popular dance competition.

The hit US show will start its 31st season as a host of celebrities were named during an announcement on Good Morning America on Thursday.

The first series of the dance competition began in June 2005 and is based on the hugely popular BBC One show Strictly Come Dancing, with two former Strictly judges - Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli - on the panel on the US version.

The connections do not stop there as head judge on Strictly Come Dancing Shirley Ballas' son Mark is one of the professionals on the Stateside show.

However, there has been a real buzz after the 16 celebrities were confirmed for the Disney+ series, which gets under way on September 19.

One of the biggest stars to be unveiled was The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, 50, who will be partnered up with Pasha Kovalev.

Former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks is also one of the surprise names to be unveiled in the live announcement and she will hope to help partner Brandon Armstrong gain his first Mirrorball.

Reigning Mirrorball champion Daniella Karagach will have the honour of pairing up with Arnold Schwarznegger's son Joseph Baena.

Selma Blair, who is best known for starring in 1999 film Cruel Intentions and her open approach in having MS, will take to the dancefloor alongside Sasha Farber.

Several professionals have taken two Mirrorball crowns but no one in the current line-up have reached number three. Mark Ballas, who is one of four pros to be a two-time champion, is partnered up with social media personality Charli D'Amelio.

Cheryl Burke will target the three-peat alongside Good Morning America weather anchor Sam Champion, TV personality Gabby Windey is partnered up with Val Chmerkovskiy and Sex and the City actor Jason Lewis will link up with Peta Murgatroyd on the dancefloor.

Shangela will be the first drag queen to be cast on the show and they will form the dancing competition's first ever all-male partnership with Gleb Savchenko in its 17 year history.

CODA star Daniel Durant will hope to transfer his acting skills to the ballroom when he partners Britt Stewart, while former Jersey Shore personality Vinny Guadagnino will join the only new professional in this year's line-up Koko Iwasaki.

Former Charlie's Angel Cheryl Ladd will also be participating on the dancefloor alongside Heidi D'Amelio - mum of Charli D'Amelio - Trevor Donovan, Wayne Brady and Jessie James Decker.
