Twice hit Bangkok

Nine-member Korean girl group Twice are a pop sensation. Since their 2015 debut The Story Begins, they’ve released hit after hit, including “Like Ooh-Ahh,” “Cheer Up” and “Likey.” Their catchy upbeat tunes and fun choreography have won them a devoted following of fans. It’s no surprise that they’re currently Korea’s most popular girl group.

Twice are currently on tour promoting their new album, Summer Nights. The album’s lead single “Dance the Night Away” has been an international smash, with some even calling the girls the Queens of Summer. So naturally Thai fans flocked to see their K-pop idols in action when they came to town for Twice 2nd Tour Twiceland Zone 2: Fantasy Park at Thunderdome on August 18.

The day before the concert, 411 Entertainment arranged for Thai press to meet leader Jihyo, 21, Nayeon, 22, Jeongyeon, 21, Dahyun, 20, Chaeyoung, 19, Momo, 21, Sana, 21, Mina, 21 and Tzuyu, 19, at Dusit Thani Hotel.

Here some highlights from the interview.

How does it feel to be called the Queens of Summer?

Tzuyu: It’s the first song that we’ve released during summer. We’re thrilled that it’s received such great feedback. It makes us very happy to perform the song.

If you were trapped on an island like in the video, what would you bring with you?

Sana: I’d bring a chef with me. They could use their knowledge to search for ingredients and cook something to help us survive.

Dahyun: I’d bring a boat, so I could sail away.

What’s your favourite Twice single?

Chaeyoung: I like the concept and style of “Dance the Night Away” the most. The song and choreography are fun.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Mina: I spend my free time on my mobile phone or playing computer games. I like shoot-‘em-ups.

How you do to stay cool during the summer in South Korea?

Tzuyu: I eat watermelon and drink juice.
