Dancing On Ice viewers fuming as Gemma Collins returns to the show

Gemma Collins made a surprise return to the rink as she appeared on tonight's Dancing On Ice.

The former TOWIE star was lowered down on a giant ring in a super-glam pink outfit complete with jewelled turban, but unfortunately not everyone was pleased to see her.

The GC, who was the talk of the 2019 series, was in the studio to announce a competition.

And some viewers took to Twitter to ask if it was necessary while we're in a lockdown.

One raged: "Really? Was that essential to drag Gemma Collins out in these times? It wasn’t was it?

"They could have done a VT Of anyone. COVID won’t go away while people d*** about like this."

"We are on lockdown was it essential that Gemma went to the studio?" asked another fan.

"Why did they have to bring Gemma Collins back to announce the competition on Dancing On Ice?" wondered another.

Gemma Collins and skating partner Matt Evers (ITV)

"Why did they get Gemma Collins on just to announce the competition? Phil and Holly could have done that themselves," commented another viewer.

Another commented: "Gemma Collins appearing on #doi is NOT a lockdown essential."

And another said: "Don’t think Gemma Collins is essential travel ngl."

But others were delighted to see the outspoken reality star.

"Gemma Collins is comedy gold," said one.

"The sasss hahahahahaa," admired another about her comback.

"Gemma is so EXTRA!!!" enthused another.

Gemma, who was partnered with professional skater Matt Evers, left the ice smiling after a turbulent five weeks on the ITV skating show.

She memorably clashed with former judge Jason Gardiner and impressed fans with her determination to continue in the contest after falling flat on her face while gliding along to a Celine Dion ballad.

Asked if she was going to continue skating after being voted off the show, she replied: "Probably not no."

ITV declined to comment.
