Dancing On Ice stars warned they'll be automatically axed if they test positive for Covid-19

Dancing On Ice stars will be axed from the ITV show if they test positive for Covid-19.

Due to current guidelines on isolation, a positive test would mean that celebrities would need to miss two weeks of the show - meaning that they would have to automatically leave the competition.

Contestant Rufus Hound missed the third week in the competition after coming into contact with someone with coronavirus after his first skate in week one, but had not needed a bye in week two as he was sent straight automatically through after receiving a golden ticket from the judges.

But from now on, stars will not be able to continue skating if they receive a positive coronavirus test.

An ITV spokesperson told the Mirror: "We have stringent protocols to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect government guidelines.

"Following the guidance on isolation, a positive Covid-19 diagnosis for any of our cast at this stage would mean two weeks missed and sadly an end to their time on the show.

"It has always been the case that no celebrity skater has missed more than one public vote."

Despite the tough filming climate during a national lockdown, the hit ITV show has been able to continue filming - but it was dealt some major blows last week when three stars pulled out.

As well as Rufus, Billie Shepherd took a week off to grieve the death of her nan - but has confirmed she will return next week.

And Denise van Outen was forced to pull out entirely following the advice from doctors after a nasty injury and has been replaced by gymnast Amy Tinkler.
