The cast of Dancing on Ice have paid tribute to professional skater Sean Rice who has died aged 49.

The professional ice skater appeared on the ITV show in 2011 with Angela Rippon and again in 2012 with Chemmy Alcott.

Friends, family and celebrities have all gone online to pay tribute to Sean, reports The Daily Star.

Fellow skater and close friend Frankie Poultney shared the news on Twitter.

She said: "Pro skaters are heartbroken today, we lost a true larger than life great - an epic skater, a husband, father, and my friend of 20 years.

"Sean Rice, 20/07/72 - 14/01/22 gone too soon, but we will Love You For A Thousand Years. All of our thoughts are with Signey and Jodeyne."

Another professional skater, Matt Evers, also posted another touching tribute: "One of the best... thank you Sean for your gift. This routine from The Professionals on Ice was incredible. It was a pleasure to know and work with you."

Sean's celebrity dancing partner Chemmy Alcott has also shared a tribute to Sean on Twitter. She said: "Have just heard the tragic news that Sean Rice, my partner from DOI, has passed away.

"The world will miss your amazing energy and your healing hands. All my love to J and S."

Frankie has also shared a GoFundMe page which has been launched to raise money for Sean's wife Jodeyne and daughter Signey following his death. So far the campaign has raised $11,644 (£8,515) of its $15,000 goal.
