Dancing on Ice star Yebin Mok out of first show after freak horror injury in training

A Dancing on Ice has been forced to pull out of the new series launch show after a freak injury in training.

One of the most injury prone shows on TV, the ITV programme is no stranger to casualties and the 2021 run has claimed its first victim before cameras have even start rolling.

On Wednesday's This Morning, Phillip Schofield, who also presents Dancing on Ice with pal Holly Willoughby, revealed that pro skater Yebin Mok will be absent from the rink when the show returns on Sunday night due to a "nasty" injury when she was stabbed in the leg by a blade and required immediate medical assistance.

On the same day Dancing on Ice was hit by a coronavirus outbreak, Phillip went onto claim that her wound was so deep you could "see the tendons".

He told viewers at home: "We had a Zoom meeting yesterday with the team and they showed us a picture that we can not show you on TV.

"Holly couldn't even look at it, she had to look away - and it was a very nasty stab wound from an ice blade.

"You could see the tendons, it's a very dangerous show."

Yebin is paired with Olympian skier Graham Bell for the new series and, rather than perform with another pro, Graham, who represented Great Britain at five Winter Olympics in the 1980s and 90s, will also sit out Sunday's live show.

Graham was among the first batch of celebs set to make their debut in week 1 but in a reshuffle to the order, comedian Rufus Hound and his skating partner Robin Johnstone will now perform a week earlier than planned.

Fellow professional Karina Mantra will train with Graham in Yebin's absence.

Last year's series of Dancing on Ice saw comedian Michael Barrymore pull out due to an injury before the show started and then professional Vanessa Bauer suffer a horrific injury in training when she smashed her face off the side of the rink during training.

This year's Dancing on Ice lineup features stars like Jason Donovan, Rebekah Vardy, Colin Jackson and Myleene Klass.
