Dancing On Ice star Carlotta Edwards' family were left "shocked" by her recent marriage split over Maura Higgins, it has been reported.
The pro dancer, 30, and husband Alex Demetriou, 28, are said to have taken a break on their relationship after he was partnered up with Love Island beauty Maura on the show.
The couple were rocked by allegations their marriage was on the rocks after Alex was alleged to have become too close to the brunette bombshell, 29, on the ITV skating hit.
Over Christmas, the couple went to visit Carlotta's family in Canada before Alex was coupled up with Maura for DOI.
"Everything had seemed fine and her family thought they were having a good time," a source told The Sun.
"Now they think they must have been mistaken. No one in her family suspected anything was up between them, so obviously this has all been quite a shock."
Carlotta is said to have taken off her wedding ring while staying with a pal in Calgary, Canada, as she decides where to go with her next steps.
“Carlotta and Alex are having a bit of time out from each other at the moment."
Another source revealed to The Sun on Sunday that Carlotta is "stuck in Calgary due to the coronavirus " and unable to go home to her family who reside in Port Edward, British Columbia.
Carlotta is said to be keeping things "private" at the moment as she stays with her friend.
The pair have reportedly grown apart since Alex formed a close friendship with Maura.
The couple's marriage is now hanging in balance as the pair take a break away from each other to decide where their relationship lies.
