Dancing On Ice stand-in Matt Richardson 'concussed within four minutes on rink'

Matt Richardson has been left with a concussion after suffering an accident within seconds of beginning Dancing On Ice training – according to reports.

The 29-year-old TV presenter is training for the 2021 series of Dancing On Ice as a stand-in – where he would replace one of the main contestants should they be forced to stand down.

But the raven haired TV host suffered a vicious injury after just four seconds on the rink as he began his intensive training regime.

The star suffered injury to his head and was reportedly left with a concussion as his debut on the ice ended in disaster during his first session with Olympic legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

A source told The Sun: “Matt was keen as mustard to get out on to the rink. But once he was on there, it turned to disaster.

“He was skating with a pole when he fell and landed on his head. There was a nasty cut and he suffered concussion.”

The dramatic account continued: “Matt put a brave face on it but he was shaken up.

“It was a reminder of how hard the show is and how dangerous taking part can be.”

The source went on to state Matt had vowed to get back on the ice as soon as he has recovered and he will get extra coaching so he is ready to go should the need arise.

Mirror Online has contacted a representative of the star for comment.

Dancing On Ice is known for leading to celebrities to suffer injury in pursuit of securing the winter sports crown.

Last year, show winner Joe Swash was sliced by the blade of his skate partner Alex Murphy in an accident that lead to fears he would miss out on the final.

Contestants taking part in the main 2021 line-up include former The Only Way Is Essex contestant Billie Shepherd, Olympic star Colin Jackson, TV host Denise van Outen, ex-Corrie star Faye Brookes, and Olympic ace Graham Bell.

Actor and singer Jason Donovan, Emmerdale’s Joe-Warren Plant, rap star Lady Leshurr, hosting beauty Myleene Klass, WAG wonder Rebekah Vardy, comedian Rufus Hound, and radio host Sonny Jay complete the line-up.
