Dancing on Ice sees backstage 'clash' between Alison Hammond and Shaun Ryder

Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder reportedly had an off-camera "clash" behind the scenes of Dancing on Ice with Alison Hammond.

The 80s superstar was in the audience to cheer on his friend and bandmate Bez, who is appearing on the hit ITV reality TV show.

Alison was there to support her pal ITV presenter Ria Hebden.

59-year-old Ryder was reportedly backstage whenAlison, 46, charged up to him and said:"I never liked you! From the first minute I met you and spoke to you I never liked you."

In response, Shaun bluntly told her: "I know!"

The popular TV show returned on Sunday night with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby hosting it, reports the Mirror.

The ITV skating show kicked off with musician Bez - who has suffered a number of falls and injuries during training - taking to the ice on live television for the first time.

He and partner Angela Eagan gave it their best shot and the musician was impressed with his score of 12.5, despite it being significantly lower than what the other celebs were given.

"I thought it would have been much lower than that," he told the hosts.

In the audience, Shaun Ryder cheered his pal on.

Asked by the hosts what his verdict was on his friend's performance, Shaun said: "What, on this show? Not in a million years! I've seen him on ice at the bottom of his garden on his pond. I think he could win this."

Meanwhile, Ria looked gutted on Sunday evening as she became the first celebrity to face this week's skate off.

At the end of the first show of 2022, Holly and Phil revealed who would be at risk of being eliminated from the competition in week two.

Ria, 39, and her professional partner Łukasz Różycki put on a brave face as they realised their place in the show wasn't safe at all.

The pair had received a decent score of 24.5 after taking to the ice for the first time - but it seems it wasn't enough.

When asked by Phillip how she felt, Ria replied: "I'm really gutted because we absolutely worked so hard on this skate and I enjoyed every second skating with Łukasz."

Łukasz was already excited about the next show and said: "Oh we have a fabulous routine so I'm looking forward actually."

The Mirror has contacted Alison's representative for a comment.
