Dancing On Ice's Trisha Goddard embarrassed by awkward fall that 'proves haters right'

Trisha Goddard was embarrassed by an awkward fall during her first Dancing On Ice performance.

The talk show queen, who is skating with Lukasz Rozycki, slipped on the ice and was sent tumbling near the start of her first live routine.

However, Trisha, 62, bravely got back on her feet and after a few moments of confusion got straight into her routine once again.

As she came off the ice, emotional Trisha was comforted by presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

She admitted the only thing bruised was a bit of her pride after claiming it proved her haters correct with a score of just 13.5 out of 40.

Trying to ease her concerns, Phillip said: "I always think, and I’m sure the judges will agree on this, having a tumble to get back up and continue is one of the biggest things."

Trisha replied: "Story of my life. I don’t mind. I’m really angry and annoyed at myself."

Her professional partner, Lukasz, admitted it was "amazing" that she could perform so well at her age.

Trisha said: "I had that in my mind. When I fell over I'm proving these people right about old people. But I loved it."

Judge Ashley Banjo told Trisha she was doing the opposite by getting up and carrying on.

He said: "Not only are you a legend but you are a pro. You fell, got up, it fell apart for a bit but you got up and made that routine. To do what you did tonight...be proud."

Jayne Torvill praised Trisha for getting up and continuing, adding: "I think you have great courage to try new things. Well done for having a go."

New judge John Barrowman confessed the fall did reflect in his scores but started singing: "But baby you got up, you got up, baby you got up."

While Christopher Dean admitted: "It was going to be 3.5 before the fall. The hardest part is getting up and getting back in gear."

Dancing On Ice viewers took to Twitter to praise Trisha for getting straight back up and carrying on.

One fan said: "TRISHA YOU ARE A GODDESS! Success is getting up when you fall."

"Oh such a shame about the stumble but a lovely routine ! Well done Trisha," added another.

A third said: "Fair do's to Trisha, she got straight back up and carried on. That takes a strong person!"

"Ahhh I was so willing Trisha on to do well, a slip up but she continued, better than what I could do, "said a fourth supporter.
