Dancing on Ice's Torvill and Dean suffer 'almighty fall' in rehearsals for final

Torvill and Dean have suffered an 'almighty fall' in rehearsals for this weekend's Dancing on Ice final.

While fans have seen the skating legends do their thing on their rink on numerous occasions during the new series, all of their performances were recorded at the end of last year, after the skaters formed a working bubble.

But, as finalists Faye Brookes, Colin Jackson and Sonny Jay bid for the 2021 crown in this weekend's Dancing on Ice finale, millions of viewers will get to see the Olympic champions actually skating live.

However, appearing on Thursday's Good Morning Britain, Christopher Dean revealed to hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway that preparations hadn't been going too smoothly and he'd been left "battered and bruised."

He told the duo: ""Jayne and I, we haven’t skated for the last eight weeks because we’ve been in our bubble and everything that we’ve done we recorded before, but we are skating this last week.

"And we were just on the ice on Monday and we took an almighty fall, which I’m still paying for, I feel a bit battered and bruised."

After startling Ben and Kate with his revelation, Chris added: "I caught an edge, I went down but I placed myself under Jayne and she landed on top of me, so she had a nice cushion and it was just my back that took the pressure.

Torvill and Dean' s tumble comes at the end of a series that has been blighted by injuries.

Denise Van Outen, Billie Faiers and Jason Donovan all quit Dancing on Ice due to injury, with pro Yebin Mok never getting the chance to skate with celeb partner Graham Bell after he accidentally 'stabbed' her in the leg with his skate blade during training.

Another pro - Hamish Gaman - then bowed out after being injured while taking a sock off in training.
