Dancing On Ice's Torvill and Dean finally break silence over Caprice scandal

Dancing on Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have finally spoken out about all the drama surrounding Caprice.

While there has been some fantastic skating over the past few months, Dancing on Ice 2020 will be remembered for the controversy surrounding Caprice and professional partner Hamish Gaman.

After a great first skate on the ITV show, things were looking for promising for the pair but, then just a week later, viewers were shocked when hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby announced that Caprice and Hamish had "parted ways."

The live on air announcement sparked heated speculation with some reports suggesting Hamish had pushed Caprice too hard, while other sources claimed she was being a diva and bullying him.

Model and entrepreneur Caprice eventually returned to Dancing on Ice with new partner Oscar Peter but, after landing in the bottom two, quit the show , blaming the strain it had put on her "mental health wellbeing."

And now, as Caprice denies she's been banned from the final, Torvill and Dean have revealed what was going on backstage between her and Hamish.

Chris told The Mirror : “It was information passed on to us. It just sounded like they weren’t getting on. Caprice wanted to stay in the competition and that was the only way they could resolve it. So that’s what the producers decided to do.”

He added: "Everyone was, to begin with, asking, ‘What’s happening?’ But now everybody’s really concentrating on their own performance and what they have to do. You’d be surprised – everyone needs to be somehow blinkered on what they need to do. They’re serious about trying to do their best so nobody really dwells on any distractions.”
