Dancing On Ice's Sonny Jay to pay poignant tribute to late friend this weekend

Dancing On Ice star Sonny Jay is preparing an emotional routine for this weekend's show.

The Capital FM presenter detailed plans for his latest routine with co-presenter Roman Kemp after the remaining celebrities in the ITV skating competition were asked to perform a routine that means something to them personally.

Sonny will pay a poignant tribute to late friend and Capital FM producer Joe Lyons.

Joe tragically died in August last year with his cause of death having not been disclosed.

Sonny, 27, went on to reveal he'll be skating on this Sunday's Dancing On Ice to a song played at Joe's funeral.

'I've chosen to skate for Producer Joe," he told Roman on the Capital FM Breakfast Show.

"Now if you've listened to the show for the last few years, everyone will know who Producer Joe is.

'We sadly lost him last year and I've chosen to skate to a track that was played at his funeral, so it's going to be a real personal one and it's going to mean a lot."

Roman said in response: 'We are going to be streaming with tears. We are going to be streaming.

"Mate he would be laughing so hard at you at the silly outfit that hopefully you'll be wearing.

"I know this for a fact, and you know this, Joe would be so proud of you if he knew you were doing this and I bet he does, and I know he does, the one thing I'm going to say, his family are going to be watching so do it justice."

Sonny joked back: "I know, I've never fallen on the ice before during a performance, but I know if I'm going to fall, it's going to be on that one."

There won't be a dry eye in the house this weekend.
