Dancing On Ice's Rufus Hound to return to show 'for one last skate' after Covid axe

Dancing On Ice star Rufus Hound, who was axed when he tested positive for Covid, has confirmed he will be returning to the series to skate in the final.

Initially Rufus was supposed to miss one week when he came into contact with someone with the virus, but when he tested positive he was forced to pull out alongside his professional partner Robin Johnstone.

But the comedian will be returning for one final skate at the end of the series, Robin confirmed in a lengthy post on her Instagram.

She wrote: " I just want to thank everyone who was supporting Rufus and I this year unfortunately you can not predict what may happen in these crazy times and I’m very sorry Rufus and I can’t continue with @dancingonice .

"I’m very proud of everything he’s learned and thank you for our fun laughs on the ice. I’m disappointed we couldn’t perform this weeks fun number we had!

"Rufus I’m so glad you are doing well and thank you to everyone at @itv for keeping everyone safe we are ever grateful to have this opportunity to bring smiles and fun to everyone.

"Looking forward to joining the pros in a few weeks to skate some fabulous numbers and come back for one last skate and spin with Rufus in the final."

A representative for Dancing On Ice confirmed: "All of our cast usually return for the final so we do hope to see him there".

Rufus announced the news he had to drop out in a YouTube video on Wednesday, where he said: "Unfortunately, the rules on Dancing on Ice are completely cut and dry, very strict, because they need to keep everybody on that production as safe as possible.

"So it seemed like when I was just quarantining, there might be a window of opportunity for me to be able to get back to the show, a window that I now know doesn't exist, and that sucks."

Rufus' spot in the competition has been replaced by comedian Matt Richardson, who will take to the ice on Sunday with his pro-skater partner Vicky Ogden.
