Dancing on Ice's Regan Gascoigne once likened to Gene Kelly by school teacher

Ahead of him skating to a song from Singin’ in the Rain on Dancing on Ice, it was revealed Regan Gascoigne was once likened to Gene Kelly by a teacher at school.

Regan, son of football legend Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne, made the best possible start to life on the ITV show last weekend, when he and professional partner Karina Manta got an amazing first week score of 33 out of 40 for their emotive routine to Sam Smith’s Too Good at Goodbyes.

Older sister Bianca and mum Cheryl proudly looked on from the Dancing on Ice audience, with them then being over the moon when Regan made it through on the public vote.

Bookies favourite to win the new series, Regan, 25, is back on the rink with Karina on Sunday night for Movie Week.

And, teasing what viewers could expect from him this week, Bianca let slip that one of Regan’s teachers once likened him to the movie icon he’ll be emulating in his latest routine.

As she and Cheryl travelled to the studios to see him in action, Bianca said: “This week he’s got Singin' in the Rain and I think it’ll really suit him as didn’t someone say in school…” before Cheryl jumped in to confirm it was Regan’s old teacher Mrs Rosenheim who made the Gene Kelly comparison.

Bianca added: “And that’s who done Singin’ in the Rain! So let’s hope he channels that this week.

“Well we know he’s going to channel him, but if you wouldn’t mind getting behind out baby boy…please vote for Regan!!!”

Regan and Karina ended up scoring 33.5 on Sunday night, after a slight stumble, putting them second on the leaderboard behind Kimberley Wyatt and her partner Mark.
