Dancing on Ice's new series 'thrown into disarray' by Boris Johnson announcement

Dancing on Ice's new series has been 'thrown into disarray' by the latest announcement from Boris Johnson.

The Prime Minister addressed the nation in his first daily briefing for weeks on Friday, following the news overnight that new rules have been imposed on Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and East Lancashire, meaning different households cannot meet indoors from today.

He announced a block would be put wedding receptions for up to 30 people, indoor performances and also the re-opening of 'close contact' venues including casinos, bowling alleys and ice rinks until August 15 at the earliest.

While Dancing on Ice, won earlier this year by Joe Swash, won't air until the start of next year, preparations for it start well in advance, with the celebrities training months ahead of the first live show.

Auditions for the new series are said to have been held already with the likes of Denise Van Outen, Wayne Bridge and LadBaby spotted trying out.

The show does have its own rink at RAF Bovingdon in Hertfordshire, but in the past celebrities have trained at the rinks closest to their homes.

The news comes as ITV have confirmed that I'm A Celebrity will go ahead this year, after doubts were cast on its return due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
