Dancing on Ice's Michelle Heaton fulfils career 'dream' with Musicals Week routine

Before she'd even set foot on the rink for Sunday's Dancing on Ice, Michelle Heston told fans she had fulfilled a long held ambition - to play Chicago's iconic leading lady Roxie Hart.

There was some disappointment for Liberty X star Michelle earlier this month, when she made her debut on the ITV show, supported by husband Hugh and children Faith and AJ, only to finish bottom of the leaderboard, after failing to land high scores from the judges.

That mean Michelle was left at serious risk of landing in the skate-off, a fate she fortunately managed to avoid, meaning she made it straight through to week three. And this week's Dancing on Ice comes with a theme that the Gateshead born performer and her co-stars like Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu are massively excited about - Musicals Week.

The theme is a chance for the skating celebs in this year's line-up to channel some famous characters from stage and screen, with Love Island winner Ekin-Su becoming Maria from Sound of Music. And Michelle was ecstatic to be able to tell fans that she will be taking on the role of Roxie, as she and pro partner Lukasz skate to Chicago anthem All That Jazz, in a bid to climb up the rankings.

Revealing all, Michelle cast her mind back to going to see Chicago years ago and longing to be Roxie. Writing next to a photo of her and Lukasz on Instagram, she wrote: "When I first started in this industry, almost 24 years ago, I remember taking mum to see @chicagoonstage @chicagomusical..

"She looked at me during the performance, I had a lump in my throat and a world of passion to one day play Velma or Roxie. She whispered “awe pet, one day." Well, tonight I get to perform my dream role."

Michelle added: "I can’t tell tell you how excited we @icelukasz are to skate for you. Please remember every vote counts. You guys watching at home are the reason we are still here. Your continued support means everything to us. And believe it or not, next week, it’s even more exciting."
