Dancing on Ice's Maura Higgins dropped on head as Love Island star does show's most dangerous move

Love Island star Maura Higgins had viewers at home wincing in pain after being dropped on her head while practising the show's most dangerous move - the dreaded headbanger!

It's the move that David 'safe hands' Seaman famously dropped his partner on her head while attempting on one of the ITV programme's first series and since then, there haven't been that many celebrity skaters who's dared to take it on.

Known for her never say die attitude, Love Island favourite Maura was the first one of this year's skating stars to brave it on Sunday's Dance themed Dancing on Ice live show. But, while it went smoothly in front of the studio audience and millions watching at home, in rehearsals it was a different story as Maura landed badly on her HEAD.

Watching on from the side of the rink, Diversity star Perri Kiely remarked "the medics are on standby" and they were forced into action when Maura fell and was left clutching her head in agony.

Thankfully she was wearing a helmet and recovery quickly and was praised by all of the Dancing on Ice judges for managing to pull it off in the live show  (without a helmet!) and not being phased by the accident earlier in the week. And viewers at home thought she deserved higher than a 30.5 out of 40 for her efforts, with one tweeting: "Don’t think I’ll get over Maura and Ben trying out the head banger and only getting 7.5. It’s a risky a** move, and they were decent routines.," and another reacting "Deserved to be scored much higher for that performance."

The shocking moment Dancing On Ice's Vanessa Bauer hits her face off rink wall

Maura's accident comes just weeks after Dancing on Ice pro Vanessa Bauer smashed her face into a wall during training, forcing her to miss one of the live shows.

And before the series even started Michael Barrymore was forced to withdraw due to injury.
