Dancing On Ice's Matt Evers rules out romance with H from Steps - for now at least

Matt Evers and Ian 'H' Watkins have ruled out romance away from Dancing On Ice.

They have made TV history by becoming the first same sex pairing but skating professional Matt has said that they are both dating other people and would not be hooking up.

Matt and H have looked to avoid the love "curse" that has gripped the ITV show, much like Strictly Come Dancing has found on BBC.

They both went on dates in the past week with people they met on dating apps.

Speaking to The Sun, 43-year-old Matt admitted: "Romance goes against the point of why we are doing our same sex coupling on the show. We don't want to deter attention from what we are really trying to do."

He went on to say that he was "really good friends" with H and that he doesn't want the "DOI to strike us."

Matt said that he is "still looking for my Prince Charming" and said that he and H had both gone on dates "with guys we met on Tinder."

Speaking about their ground-breaking pairing, Matt told White Wine Question Time podcast: "I’m very much a professional. I’ve never had the chance to have a showmance because I’m a gay man and I’ve always skated with females."

Matt added: "I haven’t looked at him as a potential partner outside the rink but I’d never say never. He is a lovely man."

The professional skater, who was infamously paired with reality star Gemma Collins in last year, has said that he will launch his own podcast next week.

There has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the highly-scored performance (REX)

The Truth, the Gay Truth and Nothing But The Truth will run alongside his Dancing on Ice schedule and will feature some former DOI celebrities, including Denise Welsh and Thom Evans.
