Dancing On Ice's Joe-Warren Plant sparks return rumours as he trains with Vanessa

Joe-Warren Plant's fans were desperate for him to return to Dancing On Ice after he was forced to pull out due to a positive Covid test.

When injuries and coronavirus cases saw the number of contestants dwindle to the point that the series had to be cut short by two episodes, people were hopeful that Joe would be brought back in.

They didn't get their wish, but his recent Instagram posts are sparking hope that he'll be returning for this weekend's final after all.

The 18-year-old actor has shared videos of himself back on the ice with professional partner Vanessa Bauer.

"We've still got it," Vanessa captioned a clip of herself spinning in the air as Joe held onto her arms and legs and skated in a circle.

She added: "Missed this feeling!"

She also shared a clip of herself excitedly squealing as Joe pulled off a complicated twirling move, revealing that it was the judges' challenge he missed the opportunity to do.

And Joe said he was trying to learn split jumps as he stepped onto the ice for the first time in over a month.

Vanessa went on to share a snap of herself and Joe posing up, captioning it: "Thank you for letting me teach you how to ice skate".

He shared it on his own account, adding: "The best teacher ever! Thankyou for everything".

While Joe has missed out on a chance to win the show - with only Faye Brookes, Colin Jackson and Sonny Jay left in the final - he might get another opportunity to skate.

Former contestants often return on the night of the final to skate on the ice for one last time, and of course this year, there are more people than ever.

For the first time in the show's history, both reserves were brought in.

Matt Richardson was brought in to replace fellow comedian Rufus Hound when he tested positive for Covid-19 and dropped out, and Olympian Amy Tinkler replaced Denise Van Outen when the TV presenter was injured and could no longer compete.

* The Dancing On Ice final airs Sunday at 6pm on ITV
