Jayne Torvill has tried to silence 'unfair advantage' accusations levelled at Dancing on Ice ahead of Sunday's grand final.
Over the years the fact that some of the contestants on the ITV are trained dancers has caused a stir amongst viewers. Stars who have taken to the rink in recent years with a dance background include Diversity member Perri Kiely and ex Strictly pro James Jordan, who triumphed in 2019.
This year claims have been aimed in the direction of Brendan Cole, Kimberley Wyatt and Regan Gascoigne, who are all in the Dancing on Ice final. Like former winner James, Brendan used to be on Strictly; Kimberley was in Pussycat Dolls and Regan is also a trained dancer who has appeared in pantomimes across the country.

When the trio made it to the final two weeks ago, Twitter was full of people who argued the result was a huge 'injustice' to the non-dancers in this year's cast, as others defended Brendan, Kimberley and Regan.
And, with just two days to go before the final, Torvill and Dean appeared on Good Morning Britain when the unfair advantage claims were once again a topic of discussion.
After the subject was broached by GMB host Charlotte Hawkins, Jayne was quick to respond, saying: "It'll only help them once they've learnt to skate and everyone has to learn to skate. So, you know, you can't just say 'you can dance, you can go off on the ice.'
Chris Dean jumped into remark: "Past winners though, Kyran Bracken, rugby player," before Jayne added: "And last year was Sonny Jay from the radio."
At the time of writing, bookies had Gazza's son Regan as the hot favourite to win. Brendan is second in the final odds, with Kimberley in third.
