Dancing On Ice presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield joked they would have to step into the rink soon following a string of early exits.
The 2021 competition kicked off last month but has already seen more contestants quit than the ITV show has reserves.
Billie Shepherd and her partner Mark Hanretty were noticeably absent from Sunday night's show after the reality television star suffered an injury during rehearsals this week.
As was Rufus Hound and his partner Robin Johnstone, who were replaced by Matt Richardson and Vicky Odgen, following the comedian's positive Covid-19 test result.
Introducing the ITV show on Sunday night, Holly and Phil explained Billie's exit and Rufus Hound's departure.
Holly said: "And we have a brand new couple in comedian Matt Richardson and his partner Vicky Ogden. And we really do wish them the best of luck tonight - welcome onboard!"
Phil quipped: "We're still here holding on by our fingernails!"
"Listen, we're gonna have to get on the ice soon if they keep dropping," Holly joked.
Phil exclaimed: "I've got my skates!", but Holly replied: "You are on your own."
Ahead of the competition this year professional Yebin Mok was the first star to pull out after a "freak accident" in rehearsals left her hospitalised with a laceration in her leg.
Billie and Rufus' exits comes after Denise Van Outen and her partner Matt Evers were forced to quit the show after she dislocated her shoulder in training.
They were replaced by former Olympic gymnast Amy Tinkler and her partner Joe Johnson.

Meanwhile, Rufus was replaced with Matt but unfortunately it didn't last long as he and his partner Vicky were voted off the show after just one week.
Matt and Vicky found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard and were sent home after the judges unanimously voted for Colin Jackson and Klabera Komini to stay.
It's not yet known, who, if anybody, will replace Billie and Mark as Phil explained Dancing On Ice had used all its replacements in a show first.
Speaking on This Morning, Phil had said: "This is the first time ever that we have used both of our reserves."
Responding, Holly added: "I'm amazed we get anyone to sign up for this show quite frankly."
Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
