Dancing On Ice's Faye Brookes says her body has 'drastically' changed since training

Dancing On Ice star Faye Brookes has revealed her gruelling training regime for the show has totally transformed her physique.

The former Coronation Street actress, 33, is paired with professional Hamish Gaman, 37, and they will be making their debut on the ice on Sunday's show.

Faye, who has also starred in West End shows including Grease, Shrek, and Legally Blonde, said she has not been able to dance as that work dried up with the pandemic.

And so after throwing herself into the challenging rehearsal process, she revealed her body is much more toned.

She explained: "I’ve got a dancer’s background but I haven’t been dancing for a while because of everything that has been going on the past year.

"I’m up for the challenge and I’m 100% eat, sleep and breathing ice skating — but you don’t see the changes until you put on different clothes.

"You’re like, 'Oh my god, I feel I’ve toned, everywhere'."

Faye played Kate Connor on Corrie until 2019, and she said her soap star pals are supporting her all the way.

She is still in the "Corrie girl group chat", which includes actresses including Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, and Brooke Vincent, who played Sophie Webster.

Dancing On Ice was recently rocked once again as comedian Rufus Hound was forced to pull out from Sunday's show after coming into contact with someone who had coronavirus.

He had already been swapped from week two to week one after contestant Graham Bell badly injured his skating partner Yebin Mok, and he was given a new partner in the form of Karina Manta, while Yebin heals.

It is not yet clear if Rufus will be allowed to rejoin the show after he has isolated for ten days.

Taking to the ice on Sunday will be Olympian Colin Jackson and his partner Klabera Komin, TV personality Billie Shepherd and Mark Hanretty, Capital Radio DJ Sonny Jay and Angela Egan, and musician and presenter Myleene Klass and Lukasz Różycki.

* Dancing On Ice airs Sunday night at 6pm on ITV
