Dancing on Ice's Denise Van Outen denies dance experience gives her an unfair advantage

Denise Van Outen doesn't believe that her former dance experience will be an advantage when she takes to the ice this weekend.

The 46-year-old television star, who previously competed in Strictly Come Dancing, is one of twelve celebrities that are appearing on the latest series of Dancing on Ice.

Ahead of her debut in the rink, the actress spoke about her strengths and weaknesses as well as her excitement of appearing on the show.

However, Denise was adamant that her most recent dance experience tends to be around her kitchen after a few glasses of wine.

"I would say I was a dancer in my youth and the last time I danced was on Strictly which was in 2012," she said ahead of the show.

"I’m a very good dancer in my kitchen after a few glasses of wine but that’s as far as it goes and I’ve never taken it to the rink!

She added: "I think if I can master the skating then the old dancing ability will hopefully come back and I can marry the two and hopefully be elegant and graceful...rather than disgraceful."

Denise competed in Strictly Come Dancing over eight years ago with professional dance partner James Jordan.

The pair came runners up in the popular show, narrowly missing out on the Strictly glitter ball to Louis Smith and Flavia Cacace.

Denise is also ready for the gruelling rehearsals as she prepares to don her ice skating shoes for the upcoming episode.

She has already admitted that she is willing to get stuck into an intense training schedule.

"I don’t mind that though," she said.

"Even when I did Strictly I did extra hours. It takes me longer to learn things and retain information so I have to do it like that. I have to do things over and over."
