Dancing On Ice's Ben Hanlin suffers huge injury days before first live show

One of this year's Dancing on Ice contestants has been dealt a huge injury blow just days before the first live show.

Since returning to screens after a four year break in 2018, Dancing on Ice has proved to be a real ratings winner for ITV, with last year's series attracting a lot of attention for Gemma Collins' 'stop selling stories on me' spat with Jason Gardiner.

Jason is no longer on the show, having been replaced by John Barrowman who will sit alongside Torvill & Dean and Ashley Banjo on the panel.

This year's unites a real mix of famous faces, with everyone from Love Island's Maura Higgins to H from Steps getting their skates on.

One of this year's contestants is Ben Hanlin but the magician has revealed he is struggling with an injury ahead of Sunday's show.

He told his followers on Instagram that he is unable to do some of the lifts in his routine with skating partner Carlotta Edwards after falling on the ice.

Speaking on his Instagram story, Ben said "We have a problem. A couple of days ago I went on the ice just before I came back, I wanted to work off the Christmas turkey.

“I’ve had a big injury, I’ve fallen over, I’ve smashed my ribs and they’re all strapped up, and under that strapping I’ve got more strapping.

“I’ve just been out skating, and I couldn’t do some of the lifts. I couldn’t lift Carlotta because my ribs are doing me in.

“I’ve got until Sunday to just get through it, and just do it anyway. So not a great start to the first show.”
