Dancing On Ice's Ben Hanlin suffers gruesome injury in dangerous lift ahead of semi-final

Dancing On Ice’s Ben Hanlin has suffered a nasty injury just one day before the semi-finals.

The 33-year-old magician was in rehearsals for the ITV show when he was slashed in the arm by the razor-edged blade of his professional partner’s boot.

Ben, who is performing with professional ice skater Carlotta Edwards, has been gearing up for a complicated lift when the bloody incident happened.

“The idea was I grab her leg and her hand, she essentially jumps at me and spins her leg through the gap and then lands,” Ben explained about the risky move to the SunOnline .

“But if we get it wrong she hits my body, well she hits my arm with her blade.

"And that is exactly what happened. She ended up jumping into my arm, and her blade dragged all the way down my arm and just cut my arm ope."

Carlotta’s sharp boot managed to cut open Ben’s forearm.

Ben luckily dodged requiring stitches for the injury and instead was forced to remain in bandages as his arm heals.

Despite his grizzly injury, the magician from Solihull is on the mend and keeping in high spirits ahead of tomorrow’s semi-finals.

All eyes will be on his skating performance, as he also vowed to go forward with the ‘Torvil and Dean’ style lift on Sunday.

The pressure is on as the Dancing On Ice final nears ever closer for the brave skating stars in this year’s ITV show with just four couples remaining.

Ben and Carlotta will be performing to ‘Ain’t that a kick in the head’ by Dean Martin before embarking on their second performance to Jake Bugg’s tune Lightning Bolt.

Ben will go up against celebs Joe Swash, Libby Clegg and Perri Kiely, as they compete for a coveted place in the Dancing On Ice final.
